Peggy L. Carpenter, Owner and President/Secretary/Treasurer, applies her diverse technical and business background to identifying and implementing the most advantageous business solutions for our clients’ environmental challenges. She has published and given technical presentations on environmental remediation methods and innovative site closure techniques at industry and technical society conferences/meetings including the API, NGWA, TPE, and PGS. In addition to her technical responsibilities, she has overall responsibility for quality assurance, business development and financial management at CPEG. Peggy earned her BS in geology, computer science and mathematics; completed masters level courses in environmental hydrogeology and various other continuing education courses; and has nearly 20 years of experience in the environmental field in technical, project management and office management positions. She holds certifications as a Pennsylvania PG, a West Virginia Licensed Remediation Specialist (LRS), an American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) Certified Professional Geologist (CPG), a National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP) Registered Environmental Manager (REM), and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM); has served in various offices including President of the AIPG Pennsylvania Section and the Three Rivers Chapter of the Academy of CHMMs along with serving on the National AIPG Advisory Board. Peggy is also a member of the Pittsburgh Geological Society and Commercial Real Estate Women of Pittsburgh, where she has participated on various committees. In addition, Peggy was named to the Top 25 Women in Business for 2010 by the Pittsburgh Business Times.
Joseph G. Prokopik, Owner and Vice President, offers over 28 years experience in the environmental and industrial fields and is responsible for operations management, technical applications, quality control, safety, associate development and human resources at CPEG. Joe earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State, and started his career in steel production/manufacturing, including first-hand project/plant engineering and management. His responsibilities included O&M of metal roll forming and electro-plating lines, chemical inventory controls, product quality, process efficiencies, waste disposal and minimization, permitting, regulatory compliance and agency reporting. In 1989, Joe began applying his plant environmental services experience via the consulting industry, and has since enhanced his environmental experience base with underground storage tank management/closure, remediation and brownfields redevelopment. Joe applies his diverse experience from both the client and the consulting perspective to provide business solutions to environmental challenges that meet or exceed our clients’ needs and expectations.
