Welcome to CPEG

Safety

CP Environmental Group is committed to performing all work in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA requirements. CPEG’s Safety Program includes monthly safety meetings in the corporate office, safety awareness activities, and daily tailgate safety meetings at the project site to ensure that our associates are provided with a safe work environment and are aware of how to conduct themselves in a safe manner

The basis of any safety program for an environmental project is in the site-specific health and safety plan (HASP). This plan is the blueprint necessary to ensure that site workers are aware of the hazards and are adequately prepared to conduct work in a safe manner. Several safety precautions specific to each project facility will also be included in the HASP, as applicable, such as the required use of orange vests, standard DOT traffic cones, and flashing yellow lights; an awareness of non-standard utilities such as air lines and water lines; and an evaluation of traffic patterns to determine the safest position of field vehicles and/or construction equipment. CPEG’s extensive experience provides our clients with the distinct advantage of minimizing the potential for safety incidents while also minimizing the impact to site operations during environmental activities.

Before CPEG associates or subcontractors enter a project site, they are required to read, understand and sign the site-specific HASP and meet the requirements as stated within the plan. In addition, a “tailgate safety meeting” is held before starting work on the site each day to reinforce the most pertinent portions of the site-specific HASP and to discuss the potential hazards associated with the tasks to be performed that day. Each person working on the project site each day must sign the tailgate safety meeting form. CPEG maintains copies of these signed documents in the project file to provide written evidence that safe procedures were discussed, reinforced, and understood by site workers.

Finally, safety can only be ensured by appropriate training of our associates, proper communication, and reinforcement of safe work practices. CPEG associates are 40-hour HAZWOPER trained, along with associated 8-hour refreshers, at a minimum. Many of our associates are also formally trained in supervisor, confined space entry, radiation worker, trenching and excavation safety, blood-borne pathogens, first aid and CPR, fall protection, respiratory protection, hazard communication, refinery safety, asbestos worker, etc.

The mission of the CPEG Safety Program is to identify the sources of actual or potential injury, illness or other loss to the associates of CPEG, our customers, the communities in which we operate, and the environment and to take steps to ensure safe operations in the presence of these sources. We believe that the health and safety of our associates, products and services is of the highest value for CPEG to achieve a competitive advantage in the marketplace and to achieve the goals outlined in our mission statement.
